Diwan Alomran

Diwan Al-Omran is an independent research institution that studies and analyzes urban development processes through an integrated approach that incorporates social, economic, environmental, and human rights dimensions. It operates on the belief that urban space is not merely a physical environment, but a dynamic system reflecting the social, political, and economic interactions within communities — and is inseparable from the fundamental rights to housing, the city, and public participation in shaping urban futures.

The institution works to develop policies and strategies that promote good urban governance, uphold residents’ rights to adequate housing, protect against forced evictions, ensure social inclusion, and safeguard cultural and environmental heritage.

Adopting a multidisciplinary and participatory approach, its research combines urban studies with social, economic, environmental, and rights-based frameworks. It advocates for urban development policies rooted in social justice, environmental sustainability, and the protection of individual and collective rights, while contributing to building fair, inclusive, and resilient urban environments.

Additionally, it actively supports the role of civil society in monitoring urban policies, ensuring transparency, and defending the rights of marginalized communities against exclusionary or unjust urban practices.
