A co-founder of Diwan Al-Omran, she is an Egyptian lawyer and human rights defender with an academic background in human rights from the University of York in the United Kingdom, and a law degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo. With over 20 years of experience, her work focuses on advocating for economic, social, and cultural rights. She began her career as a lawyer at Nabil El-Helaly’s law office and later served as Director of the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights Program at the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms. She is a member of the International Alliance of Inhabitants and the Housing and Land Rights Network. Her advocacy also extends to family law, women’s rights, and defending the rights of marginalized communities.
